Lemac Limited Cookie Policy

What are Cookies?

Most websites when you visit them will leave a cookie (or several) on your computer, but it's nothing to worry about. Cookies are not dangerous, they are not viruses, they are not computer code, they can't access any other information on your computer. Cookies are just pieces of text, mostly they don't even resemble words, just a line of numbers and letters that look like somebody was randomly hitting keys on a keyboard.

Cookies do lots of different jobs, like letting you navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences, and generally improve user experience. Sometimes they hold some information, sometimes it's just a reference number unique to your visit to the site. But just because it's unique to your visit doesn't mean it knows anything about you, a website can only know anything personally identifiable about you if you have told it that information.

Lemac doesn't put any cookie on your machine that would contain any personally identifiable information. We use cookies to allow us to distinguish you from other users of the website and to see how our site is performing, which gives us the information we need to improve our site: Which pages do people go on? How long do they stay on a page? Do they come back to the site?

The other important fact is that you are in control of the cookies on your computer. You can at any time delete these text files, or even control which websites can set cookies on your computer.

Commonly asked questions

What are cookies on computers?

Sometimes known as browser cookies or tracking cookies, cookies are tiny text files which are created when a user's internet browser (such as Internet Explorer) visits a website (like www.lemacmultilifts.com) and then stored on your computer. Every time the user goes back to the same website, the browser retrieves and sends this file to the website's server (the computer that has the files that you look at when visiting a website).

What are cookies used for?

Cookies can be used for several different things but mostly they are used to monitor website usage; providing statistics such as how many visitors have been to the site, how long they stayed on the site and how many pages they have seen. Webpages don't have any memory, they don't know what has happened before on the site so cookies are useful for storing information that can be passed from page to page. Cookies can also be used if a website has a shopping cart to remember what items you have placed in the cart whilst you continue shopping.

What does Lemac Limited use Cookies for?

It's useful for us to know how our site is being used, and which pages are more popular than others. Dependent on how you found our site we may display a different phone number, so if you decide to call us for more information we know which advertising prompted that phone call. This helps us to see which advertisements work better than others, keeping our advertising costs down so we can offer you the best prices possible. Looking at all the data we collect helps us to improve the design of our site, making sure that we are providing the answers that people are looking for, and so offering a better service to from our website.
